Adener Heights
The Adener Höhe forms the summit of the Großes Holz slag heap. At nearly 150 meters, it is the highest point within the city limits of Bergkamen. From here, the view extends far across the Münsterland and the eastern Ruhr region.
Impact on the Landscape
The austere geometric forms create a deliberate contrast to the vegetation-covered slag heap. The light-colored platform appears like an artificial island above the flat Lippe lowlands. The approximately 30-meter-high steel column “Impuls,” visible from afar, serves as a landmark that adds a vertical accent to the plateau. Thanks to its elevated position and clean architecture, the Adener Höhe becomes a striking viewing platform within the regional landscape.
Design of the Platform
The ground at the summit consists of a light-colored concrete surface. Two elliptical shapes form the center. Low concrete walls frame rose beds. A shelter on the west side offers protection in case of sudden weather changes. The geometric design of the area creates a deliberate contrast to the surrounding natural landscape of the slag heap.
